Definizione
The Nisko and Lublin Plan was an attempt by Nazi Germany to solve the "Jewish question" by expelling Jews to a "Jewish territory" in the Nisko and Lublin area in the east of German-occupied Poland. The plan initially focused on Galician territories around Nisko, but after an agreement with the Soviet Union in September 1939 that left Lublin under German control, areas around Lublin were included as well. The deportations commenced in October 1939. However, the project was abandoned by March 1940, as Hitler had a change of heart about the idea of a Jewish "reservation" in Lublin area. It is not entirely clear why the project was scrapped, but in fact it never got beyond the experimental stage, with only a handful of transports arriving in the area. (en-US)
