Definizione
The Delegazione assistenza emigranti ebrei (Delegation for the Assistance of Emigrants) was a Jewish agency that helped foreign Jewish refugees in Italy. Delasem was founded in December 1939, through the efforts of Dante Almansi, president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities and former member of the Fascist Party. From 1940 to 1943, Delasem helped Jewish refugees in Italy by providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and assistance with emigration. After September 8 1943, Delasem continued its assistance work clandestinely, providing refugees with identification cards, food, and hiding places. (en-US)
