Definizione
The Jewish Brigade Group was an independent national Jewish military formation in the British Army established in 1944 that served in Egypt and Italy. The members of the Brigade were volunteers from the Jewish community in Palestine. Immediately after the war, the Jewish Brigade provided assistance to Jewish refugees in the displaced persons camps in Germany, Austria, and Italy, helped survivors to search for relatives, and established immigration routes to Palestine through Italy. In 1946, the British dissolved the Jewish Brigade. Veterans of the organization went on to serve in the Israeli army. (en-US)
