The Jewish Agency was an international organization established in Jerusalem by the League of Nations mandate in August 1929. The Agency represented the World Zionist Organization and its goal of developing Jewish immigration to and settlement in Palestine. Before the war, the Jewish Agency's main task was to represent the Zionist movement to the mandatory government After the establishment of the state of Israel, the Jewish Agency passed on its functions to the new government.
