Celeste di Porto was tried in Rome, Italy, in 1947 for denouncing fellow Jews to the SS during the German occupation of Rome. Among the people she betrayed were the Jews who were executed during the Ardeatine Cave Massacre in March 1944. She was sentenced to twelve years but released after seven when she converted to Catholicism and wanted to join a convent. (en-US)
