Definizione

Giuseppe Bottai (1895-1959) was a journalist and politician during the Fascist era in Italy. He launched the periodical Critica fascista and belonged to the revisionist branch of the Fascist Party. From 1929 to 1943, he held various positions in the government and party including Minister of Corporations, governor of Rome, and Minister of National Education. In the latter role he applied the legislation excluding Jewish students from public schools. In July 1943, Bottai took part in the revolt against Mussolini along with other members of Fascist Grand Council. He fled to North Africa and served in the French Foreign Legion for the remainder of the war. Bottai returned to Rome in 1948 and resumed his work in journalism (en-US)
