On March 3, 1944, Teresa Gullace was among a group of Italian women who protested the roundup of their husbands for forced labor on the Viale Guilio Cesare in Rome. She was shot by an SS or member of the Fascist militia as she went to embrace her husband and became a martyr for the Italian resistance movement. (en-US)
