Levi, Carlo CercaDefinizione
Carlo Levi (1902-1975) was a writer, artist, and doctor from Turin, Italy, and was a member of the antifascist Guistizia e Libertà (Justice and Liberty) movement before the war. He was arrested in the 1930s and his famous novel, Christ Stopped at Eboli, describes his experiences while living under enforced residence in Lucania in southern Italy. From 1943 to 1944 he participated in armed resistance in Tuscany. After the war he served as a senator from Lucania. (en-US)
