Definizione

Riccardo Bauer (1896-1982) was a member of the Italian anti-fascist Giustizia e Libertà (Justice and Liberty) movement before the war. In 1930 he was arrested in Milan with other Justice and Liberty members for espionage and antifascist activities and sentenced to 20 years of prison. After September 1943 he was a leader in the Action Party and arranged contacts between representatives of the CLN (Committees of National Liberation) and the U.S. military in Rome in early 1944.
