Settimio Sorani was the head of the Delagazione Assistenza Emigranti Ebrei (Delasem) office in Rome, the Jewish welfare agency that assisted refugee Jews in Italy. After the armistice in September 1943, Delasem was forced to carry out its activities secretly. Sorani helped both refugee and Italian Jews to find hiding places until the liberation of Rome in June 1944. (en-US)
