The Brigate Garibaldi (Garibaldi Brigades) was the largest umbrella organization of communist-oriented partisans in Italy from 1943 to 1945. Luigi Longo was the leader of the organization and there were up to 575 brigades. Approximately 42, 000 members of the Garibaldi brigades died during the war. (en-US)
