Battaglia di El Alamein (1942) CercaDefinizione
Two conflicts took place between the British and the Axis armed forces in El Alamein, Egypt, in 1942. The first battle in July was a defensive measure by the British Eighth Army, commanded by General Auchinleck, against the Axis forces commanded by General Rommel as the Axis moved eastward in an attempt to seize Egypt and the Suez Canal. During the second battle, from October 23 to November 6, the British were led by Lieutenant General Montgomery and defeated the Axis forces. (en-US)
