Definizione
Polish-born Jews residing in Germany were threatened to be deported to Poland in October 1938. The decision by the German Foreign Office and the Gestapo to deport Polish Jews residing in Germany to Poland was triggered by a policy announcement in which the Polish government stated that Polish citizens residing abroad for more than five years would require revalidation of their citizenship as of October 30th, 1938. On October 28 and 29, 1938, Germany deported between 15,000 to 20,000 Polish Jews from its territory to the Polish border. Many of the deportees either camped in no-man's land or lived near Zbaszyn on Polish territory near the border. (en-US)
