In February 1940, the Turkish ship Sakariya sailed from Sulina, Romania, to Palestine, carrying refugees and members of Betar and the Revisionist movement from Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Hungary. The passengers were met by the British near the Dardanelles and placed in the internment camp in Athlit upon landing in Palestine. (en-US)
