Definizione
Between 1940 and 1943, the Italian government operated an estimated 40 civilian internment camps in Italy. The camps principally housed Jewish refugees and immigrants. Those civilians deemed politically unreliable by the Italian authorities were interned as well. The occupying Italian forces also operated interment camps for Jews and Slavs in Yugoslavia from 1941 to 1943. (en-US)
