A mountain range in south-central Europe, the Alps form an arc 800 kilometers (500 miles) long and 160 kilometers (100 miles) wide from the Riviera in the west to Slovenia in the east. Mount Blanc, at 4,807 meters (15,771 feet), is the highest peak in the range.
