Definizione

Location: Eastern Europe and northern Asia bordered in 1900, e.g., by Germany, Austria-Hungary, Romania and the Ottoman Empire. Capital city: Moscow History: Russia was part of the Allied Powers in World War I but withdrew in late 1917. After the collapse of the Russian Empire and the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the areas of the former Empire experienced several years of Civil War and two years of military conflict between Soviet Russia and Poland. This period ended with the formation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) on December 30, 1922. Following the official dissolution of the USSR on December 25, 1991, the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic was renamed the Russian Federation. (en-US)
