Definizione

Christian festival commemorating the birth of Jesus. The reason for the choice of the date of Christmas, December 25, remains uncertain, although the most probable reason is that early Christians chose the date to coincide with the pagan Roman winter solstice festival. The Armenian Church observes Christmas on January 6, and some smaller Christian communities, such as the Jehovah's Witnesses, do not observe Christmas. (en-US)
