Agnosticismo CercaDefinizione
Agnosticism was a philosophy characterized by uncertainty or indecision about the existence of a deity or God, a result of the rising influence of modern scientific theory such as Darwinism in the 19th century. Philosopher and skeptic Thomas Huxley coined the term agnostic from the Greek word agnostos (unknowable) in 1869 to describe those who repudiated the tenets of Judaism or Christianity to hold the question God's existence open and in need of more evidence. By the 20th century, Agnosticism became associated with skepticism and atheism. (en-US)
