In various Nazi concentration camps (e.g. Buchenwald, Dachau, Mauthausen, Gusen, Sachsenhausen) body parts of dead prisoners were processed in camp infirmaries, often for commercial purposes, mostly prepared by prisoner doctors upon the order of SS camp doctors. Such products were e.g. dried pieces of skin containing tattoos, various articles and memorabilia for camp personnel made out of human skin or other body parts, shrunken heads, skeletons, skulls for medical institutions etc. (en-US)
