Definition:
Any work involving the changing or maintenance of the course of a river or other body of water. For example, in the Lublin and Warsaw districts the German administration launched a major land restoration program in 1940 and 1941. Over 30,000 Jews were forced to work under harsh conditions, such as standing without boots in knee-high water infested by leeches. (en-US)
