Definizione

Collective farms which appeared in the USSR in the mid 1920s. The majority of Soviet peasants were forced into kolkhozes between 1929-1931. They were forced to work collectively, but were permitted to have small gardens and a limited number of livestock. Inhabitants were not allowed to leave the kolkhozes until the mid 1970s. (en-US)
