Definizione
Kkaddish is an Aramaic term referring to four types of prayer or doxology recited in synagogues at the conclusion of services or conclusions of individual sections within services. The four types are the whole Kaddish, the half Kaddish, the scholars' Kaddish, and the mourners' Kaddish, recited by the close relatives of the deceased. All forms of the kaddish are recited in Aramaic while facing Jerusalem and are characterized by praise of G-d and desire for the establishment of G-d's kingdom on earth. The Mourners' Kaddish originated in the 13th century and was recited for 11 months after the passing of a parent of relative. Several types of musical accompaniment and melody developed in both the Ashkenazi and Sephardic traditions. (en-US)
