Definition: Ion Antonescu and other Romanian war criminals are brought to trial on May 6-15, 1946. Northern Transylvania is restored back to Romania, the west frontier is set back to the January 1, 1938 line. To the north and east: Northern Bukovina and Bessarabia remain with the USSR and Subcarpathian Russia becomes part of the Ukrainian USSR. 150,000 Jews apply for emigration to Palestine. The mass emigration of Jews ends. On November 9, 1947, in a rigged election, the Communist party and its blocs wins. (en-US)
