The index term "forced labor in the ghettos" is used for discussions of enforced work performed in the ghettos or by ghetto inhabitants outside the ghettos. For discussions of unsanctioned profit-oriented activities involving ghetto inhabitants, the index term "clandestine economic ativities in the ghettos" should be used. Definizione

Work performed by ghetto inhabitants that serviced other ghetto inhabitants, whether assigned by ghetto authorities or done on individual initiative. This may include those employed by the Judenräte, such as teachers, bakers, and cooks. (en-US)
